Could Aaron Rodgers have more to give on the gridiron? NFL legend Brett Favre thinks so. The Hall of Famer and former Packers quarterback recently shared his thoughts on Rodgers’ future with TMZ Sports, expressing confidence that the Jets QB still has the talent to compete at the highest level.
Favre, who understands the unique challenges Rodgers faces, particularly after their shared history in Green Bay, believes the 41-year-old signal-caller isn’t ready to hang up his cleats. “He’s got something left,” Favre said. “I think I’m right in saying he has a lot of juice left in the tank.”
While Rodgers and the Jets endured a challenging 2024 season, Favre highlighted flashes of brilliance from the veteran QB. He pointed to Rodgers’ standout performance in Week 18, where he threw for four touchdowns and 274 yards in a season-ending victory against the Miami Dolphins.
“That’s the Aaron Rodgers we know,” Favre explained. “He’s making all the throws, guys are responding to him, love playing with him. Where’s that been all year?”
Rodgers’ season stats included 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, along with a 63% completion rate. While those numbers reflect solid production, Rodgers faced adversity, including 40 sacks and the lingering impact of a torn Achilles that sidelined him for nearly all of the 2023 season.
As Rodgers weighs his options for the 2025 season, Favre offered some advice: “If there’s any little inkling in him that wants to play and prove that he can still do it at a high level, then I would say do it,” Favre said.
Rodgers has hinted at a potential return to the Jets, contingent on the team’s direction under a new general manager and head coach. Despite his age and recent challenges, Favre remains convinced that Rodgers has what it takes to shine again.
With retirement rumors swirling, Rodgers faces an uncertain offseason. But if Favre’s belief is any indication, the four-time MVP may have one more opportunity to prove his doubters wrong.
Whether he chooses to step back on the field or call it a career, Aaron Rodgers’ legacy is undeniable. And according to Brett Favre, the story may not be over just yet.
