In Kendrick Lamar’s latest track, “6:16 In LA,” Al Green’s iconic sound finds its way into the mix, sparking a response from the legendary artist himself.
Dropped in the early hours of Friday (May 3), this track, produced by Sounwave and Jack Antonoff, features a sample from Green’s timeless 1972 hit, “What a Wonderful Thing Love Is.”
In a succinct social media post, Green shared a link to the original song on his Twitter/X page shortly after Kendrick Lamar, often referred to as K. Dot, released “6:16 In LA.” Following the explosive release of “Euphoria,” Lamar unveiled “6:16 in LA” on his Instagram page on the same day.
Lamar, rapping over the sampled Al Green track, directs another series of lyrical jabs at Drake, also known as the 6 God, suggesting that there may be betrayers among his followers.
