Hip-hop icons 8Ball and MJG are about to receive a significant hometown honor in Memphis, with a street intersection being renamed after the legendary duo.
This Saturday (September 28), the intersection of Park Avenue and Airways Boulevard in the heart of Orange Mound— the neighborhood 8Ball & MJG have often celebrated in their music—will officially be renamed to 8Ball Boulevard and MJG Avenue.
This landmark recognition not only highlights their lasting impact on hip-hop but also pays tribute to the cultural significance of their Memphis roots.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, 8Ball expressed his gratitude to the city and the community that shaped their legacy, writing, “Thank you Memphis. Thank you Orange Mound. The love is appreciated!”
He added: “We didn’t get many accolades, so this hits different, mane. Thank you @mayorpaulyoung, @duprano, and everyone who made this possible.”
This renaming of the intersection serves as a monumental moment for Memphis, cementing 8Ball & MJG’s legacy not only in the world of hip-hop but also in the city that helped them rise to stardom.
