An 11-year-old angler caught Europe’s biggest confirmed carp. Callum Pettit, an 11-year-old from Kent, a county in southeast England, caught the giant carp while fishing with his dad, Stuart Pettit.
Pettit and his dad were fishing at a private lake near Reims, France. The giant carp was caught using carp bait that was banoffee-flavored a popular British dessert pie. It took the 11-year-old 20 minutes to reel in what ended up being a 96-pound carp. The carp was only a few pounds lighter than Pettit, himself.
The owners of the lake said the carp’s name is “Big Girl.”
