LeBron James’ youngest daughter, Zhuri James, is following in her iconic father’s footsteps… not on the basketball court, but on the volleyball court. The 10-year-old rising star is proudly sporting the No. 6 jersey for her City Volleyball Club team, a nod to her dad’s legendary career.
The Los Angeles Lakers champion couldn’t contain his excitement as he shared heartwarming photos of Zhuri in her volleyball uniform on Instagram. “🥰🥰😍😍🤎🤎🤎 YOU GO GIRL!!!!!! LET’S GO BABY Z!!” LeBron captioned the post, beaming with pride for his daughter’s athletic journey.
Zhuri’s choice to wear No. 6 holds special significance. It’s the same number her father famously donned during his time with the Miami Heat, Team USA, and briefly with the Lakers before switching back to 23.
The number was retired league-wide to honor NBA legend Bill Russell, and while LeBron had the option to continue wearing it, he opted to return to 23 as a tribute to Russell’s legacy.
For Zhuri, however, the No. 6 represents more than just basketball history… it’s a connection to her dad’s legacy and a symbol of her own blossoming athletic identity.
Zhuri has shown her passion for sports over the years, and her mom, Savannah James, has big dreams for her kids. During an episode of her podcast, Everybody’s Crazy, Savannah revealed her hopes of seeing all her children compete on the Olympic stage.
With LeBron’s potential final Olympic appearance coming up at the 2024 Paris Games, the James family’s love for sports runs deeper than ever.
As Zhuri begins her volleyball season with her dad’s iconic number on her back, it’s clear the James legacy of excellence and sportsmanship is alive and thriving.
