Hip-hop sensation YoungBoy Never Broke Again, born Kentrell Gaulden, is set to leave prison this summer following a plea deal that dramatically reduces his sentence. The rapper, who has been navigating multiple legal battles, will soon regain his freedom, marking a pivotal moment for his career and loyal fanbase.
YoungBoy faced serious charges, including aggravated assault with a firearm in Louisiana and allegations of posing as a doctor to secure prescription painkillers. In September, a plea deal resolved key aspects of these cases.
The rapper admitted to illegally possessing firearms while filming a music video in Baton Rouge, a decision that led to a 23-month prison sentence, five years of probation, and a hefty $200,000 fine.
Key terms of the deal also required YoungBoy to surrender the weapons in question, which included a Masterpiece Arms MPA30T 9mm handgun and a Glock 21 .45 caliber pistol.
Thanks to time already served, YoungBoy’s sentence was reduced significantly, with his release now scheduled for July 2024. This earlier date is a major relief for his supporters, who have rallied behind the rapper throughout his legal challenges.
In a separate legal matter involving prescription drug fraud, YoungBoy struck another deal last November. Although he was fined $25,000, he avoided additional jail time. The case stemmed from an incident where police arrested individuals in his vehicle attempting to collect a falsified prescription.
