Xzibit recently opened up about an unforgettable adventure with the late Big Pun, sharing a chaotic tale that involved guns, police, and a bullet-ridden tour bus. Sitting down with Bootleg Kev, the rapper and former Pimp My Ride host, who sports a tattoo of the Bronx legend, took fans on a wild ride down memory lane.
“It was our first promo tour together,” Xzibit began. “We had two buses, and we were somewhere on the East Coast, working our way to Detroit or Flint. Pun’s bus broke down, and since he had his family with him, they all hopped on my bus.”
What started as a logistical hiccup quickly spiraled into a night of sheer chaos. According to X, Big Pun’s crew, including the infamous Terror Squad, tried to check into a hotel to escape the cramped conditions of the bus. That’s when things started to unravel.
“They called a car to get to the hotel,” X recounted. “This old-school dude with a Jheri curl pulls up in a limo. He hops out with an attitude, waving his hands like, ‘All you muthaf**kas can’t get in my car!’ Next thing I know, the whole Terror Squad is chasing this guy around the car… it was like watching a silent movie. Absolute madness!”
Later that evening, the drama escalated during Big Pun’s concert. “There’s this guy, Boobie the Boxer, who’s part of Terror Squad,” X explained. “He’s addressing something in the front row. Then someone throws something, and suddenly, there’s a fight coming onto the stage.”
That’s when things took a dangerous turn. “Someone from the team pulls a gun out of a briefcase and fires it into the air—BOW!” Xzibit said, still in disbelief. “Fans scattered, and we barely made it out alive. By the time we got back to the bus, the cops were already there.”
As if the situation couldn’t get worse, the person who fired the gun attempted to ditch it. “He threw it in a dumpster, but there was no trash, so it made this loud clanking sound. The cops immediately found it, and next thing you know, everyone’s in cuffs.”
Despite the police intervention, Xzibit and his crew were eventually released. However, their troubles weren’t over. At the hotel, a group from the concert was waiting outside, allegedly looking for Terror Squad.
“We had to run this covert operation to get everyone back on the bus,” Xzibit revealed. “By the time we drove off, people started shooting at the buses. It was insane. Never a dull moment!”
Xzibit’s vivid retelling not only paints a picture of the unfiltered chaos that often surrounded Big Pun and his crew but also serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of life on the road in hip-hop’s golden era.
