A 13-year-old girl was killed and three relatives were badly hurt after a small plane crashed in Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains, officials said.
The Piper PA-28 went down near Big Mountain, west of Sheridan, on Monday afternoon. A medical helicopter spotted the wreckage, and rescuers found the girl dead at the scene. Her parents, Earl and Cindy Palmer of Boise, remain in critical condition, while her 11-year-old brother suffered minor injuries.
Two survivors were airlifted to Billings, Montana, and another taken to a Sheridan hospital. A GoFundMe for the Palmer family has raised more than $25,000.
Federal investigators are probing the crash. Sheridan County Sheriff Levi Dominguez praised the rescue crews, calling the effort “exceptional.”
