Wu-Tang Clan’s seventh studio album, “Once Upon A Time In Shaolin,” is set to make its highly anticipated public debut.
Known as the “world’s rarest album,” this singular copy, pressed in 2015, had its digital masters destroyed to underscore the impact of streaming and piracy in the digital age.
Initially purchased by the infamous Martin Shkreli for $2 million, the Wu-Tang Clan album changed hands after Shkreli’s conviction for securities fraud.
In 2021, PleasrDAO acquired the album from the U.S. Department of Justice for $4 million, aiming to resolve Shkreli’s debts.
Staying true to their commitment to increase public access to this iconic piece of music history, PleasrDAO has loaned the album to the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart, Tasmania.
The album will be featured in an exhibition aptly named “Namedropping,” offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience this extraordinary artifact.
