Sneaker enthusiasts and hip hop fans are buzzing with excitement following a tantalizing social media post from Wu-Tang Clan and Nike, hinting at the revival of a highly coveted sneaker collaboration.
On Sunday, June 30, a joint Instagram post from the legendary rap group and the legendary athletic brand showcased a striking image: a swarm of bees clustered around a high-top sneaker.
While the iconic Nike swoosh was partially obscured by the bees, the unmistakable black and yellow color scheme of Wu-Tang Clan was prominently displayed.
This intriguing visual has sparked widespread speculation about the return of the “Wu-Tang” Nike High Dunks, a sneaker that originally debuted in 1999.
Footwear News reports that this post hints at the re-release of these legendary sneakers, which were initially a redesign of a University of Iowa-themed shoe, with the addition of Wu-Tang’s logo on the tongue and heel.
The original release was extremely limited, with only 100 pairs made available to the public. Over time, the collaboration has achieved iconic status, with some fans even believing that just 36 pairs were produced, paying homage to Wu-Tang Clan’s classic debut album, “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).”
