Millions of people all over the world got a chance to see Wrinkle the duck run with the runners in the New York City Marathon. Yes, that’s right Wrinkle is a real duck who loves running. Wrinkle also goes by the name Wrinkle Five Star or Wrinkle In Time, but for short they just call the speedy duck Wrinkle.
Wrinkling was featured on TikTok running in the Marathon, and it has been viewed over 8 million times, turning the cute little duck into a star. Wrinkle’s true talent is being able to put people in a good mood.
Wood and Kung the owners of Wrinkle said that “when we meet people on the street, they’re always surprised and they care about the duck,” But on the internet, it’s harder for people to personally care about this animal. So we really wanted to make her a personality as you recognize her as ‘the running duck’ or the traveling duck.”
To keep Wrinkle from getting bumblefoot Wood and Kung made her a pair of fashioned booties out of scuba-gear-like material that’s soft, waterproof, and easy to wash. Wood said they are looking into mass-producing the fashionable duck booties so other ducks can benefit from them too.
“We weren’t sure if we were allowed to do it,” Kung said. So to be safe and mindful of the runner, Wrinkle would run a block and stop for water, totaling three blocks, about a half-mile in total distance. “Wrinkle always puts people in a good mood,” Wood said.
