Walmart, the giant retailer, has been forced to recall a pro-environment shirt from its stores after customer discovered a hidden offensive message. The controversy started when a Twitter user shared a picture of the shirt, revealing a hidden vulgar term within the letters.
The shirt features the letters RE in large print on the left, with the words cycle, use, new, and think aligned to the right. When RE is combined with each word, it spells out an environmental phrase. However, if you remove the RE, the first letter of the words left spells out an offensive term.
The Twitter user challenged others to find the hidden word, which sparked an online discourse, with many finding it entertaining. Walmart took swift action and recalled the shirt from its Canadian stores.
According to Business Insider, a Walmart spokesperson confirmed that the product was only sold at Walmart Canada locations. The spokesperson did not reveal how long it was sold for or what led to the decision to discontinue it.
If you purchased the recalled shirt, please return it to the store for a full refund. Walmart apologizes for any offense caused and remains committed to providing quality products that meet high ethical standards.
