Kendrick Lamar has recently faced trolling and criticism after showcasing what appeared to be counterfeit Air Jordans on his supposed burner social media account. The rapper, known for his hit song “Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers,” uploaded a series of pictures and videos featuring his newly acquired sneakers on June 16.
These posts were initially shared on the Instagram account @jojoruski and later reposted by 2cool2bl0g. However, many followers speculated that the shoes were indeed fake, sparking a wave of online jests directed at Lamar.
Commenting on the shoes, one individual humorously wrote, “My boy logo doing the electric slide,” alongside two laughing emojis. Another playfully mocked the design, stating, “This man got the Deadpool 4’s.” Similarly, a third commenter exclaimed, “The Strong Metal Is Wild.” In reference to basketball player Shaquille O’Neal’s shoe brand, a fourth comment read, “My n***a in the Santee Alley Shaq 12’s.” Meanwhile, a fifth individual humorously suggested, “He’s only going to get a good 5 hours of use out of those.”
Lamar’s own post garnered further jests within the comments section. Producer Cardo expressed amusement with a simple “I’m cryan’,” while rapper Skillz chimed in, “YOOOOOOU A WILLLLLLD BOY,” accompanied by multiple laughing emojis. Producer BNYX reminisced about his school days, stating, “They used to clown me in school for wearing these. They just wasn’t on the s**t I was on.”
The alleged post by Kendrick Lamar portrayed him shopping for a pair of black and red Air Jordans at a local store. One photo featured him posing for a selfie in front of a large mirror while trying on the shoes. Additionally, a video captured Lamar walking the streets of New York City, proudly wearing his new footwear. In the post’s caption, he cryptically wrote, “How I’m coming for my bday [hush emoji].”
It is worth noting that Kendrick Lamar has previously expressed his inclination to distance himself from social media. In an interview with the New York Times in December 2022, the rapper shared his perspective, stating, “My social media, most of the time, is completely off. Because I know, like … I can easily smell my own s**t,” he got candid with the New York Times back in December 2022. “I know … Like, I’m not one of those dudes that be like, ‘Oh, yeah, I know how good I am.'”
