A massive rescue operation is currently unfolding in Scotland after a person reportedly went overboard from a ferry in the Firth of Clyde on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred between Dunoon and Gourock, prompting an immediate emergency response. A helicopter from HM Coastguard was swiftly deployed, along with RNLI lifeboats from Helensburgh and Largs. Rescue teams from Largs and Dunoon are also actively involved in the search efforts.
Caledonian MacBrayne confirmed that its MV Ali Cat is aiding in the mission, though initial reports suggest the individual may have fallen from a Western Ferries vessel.
An HM Coastguard spokesperson issued a statement saying:
“HM Coastguard is coordinating a search following reports of a person overboard in the Hunter’s Quay to Gourock area. Rescue teams, lifeboats, and a search and rescue helicopter are on scene. Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service are also responding.”
Nearby ships have also joined the search as authorities race against time in this life-threatening situation.
