A devastating incident has cast a shadow over Universal’s newest theme park, Epic Universe, after a man lost his life following a roller coaster ride Wednesday night.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the victim has been identified as 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala. Officials say Zavala became unresponsive after stepping off the park’s highly anticipated Stardust Racers attraction. Emergency crews rushed him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Universal confirmed the tragedy in a statement, saying… “We are heartbroken by this event and extend our deepest sympathies to the guest’s loved ones. We are fully cooperating with the authorities in their ongoing investigation.”
The Stardust Racers ride has been shut down indefinitely while investigators review what happened. Law enforcement has not confirmed a cause of death, and foul play is not suspected at this time. The park, known for cutting-edge attractions, now faces intense scrutiny as officials work to determine whether the tragedy was health-related or linked to the ride itself.
