Tyrese Gibson, known for his roles in blockbuster movies and chart-topping hits, recently revealed a surprising decision regarding his once lavish spending habits on jewelry.
During an interview on Power 105’s The Breakfast Club on Tuesday (August 20), Tyrese opened up about his evolving mindset, touching on topics like mental health, his new music, and why he’s no longer splurging on expensive jewelry.
The conversation took an interesting turn when co-host Charlamagne Tha God inquired about the authenticity of Tyrese’s earrings. In response, Tyrese candidly admitted, “No, they’re not real.”
He went on to explain his reasoning: “I’ve lost so much of this stuff. I’ve blown half a million dollars on a single watch. You can ask Jacob the Jeweler and every other top jeweler out there—they all know me. They’ve all swiped my black Centurion American Express card, no problem.”
Tyrese’s shift in perspective is clear: he’s no longer interested in competing in the “popularity contest” of flaunting pricey accessories. “I don’t lose any sleep over trying to impress people with jewelry that I’m just going to forget on my nightstand,” he added.
“And then, when it goes missing, all I get is, ‘I don’t know!’ from the housekeeper. Sure, you don’t know where my $250k earrings disappeared to.”
With a fresh outlook on life, Tyrese is focusing on what truly matters—leaving behind the material trappings that once defined his status.
