Tyler, The Creator isn’t holding back his thoughts on the current state of hip-hop, and his critique is bound to stir up some controversy. The Grammy-winning artist believes that many of today’s rappers are more focused on creating viral “meme” songs for platforms like TikTok than producing quality music.
In a candid conversation on Mav Carter’s “The Mavericks” podcast, Tyler expressed his frustration with the lack of artistic integrity in the industry.
He called out artists who openly admit they’re in it just for the money, abandoning the love for the craft that he holds dear.
Tyler also took aim at media outlets that amplify trivial social media moments, which he feels detracts from genuine musicians trying to make their mark.
According to him, this constant noise makes it harder for serious artists to gain the recognition they deserve.
