Donald Trump is once again threatening to send federal forces into Chicago for an immigration and crime crackdown.
On Truth Social, Trump shared a post parodying Apocalypse Now with the caption: “I love the smell of deportations in the morning … Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR.”
The move follows his deployments of National Guard troops in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., which a federal judge has already ruled violated the Posse Comitatus Act.
Illinois leaders are pushing back. Gov. JB Pritzker called Trump a “wannabe dictator,” while Mayor Brandon Johnson warned the plan would “break our Constitution.”
Meanwhile, CBS News revealed that Homeland Security has already stationed 250 agents and 140 vehicles at Naval Station Great Lakes, about 50 miles north of the city… signaling a crackdown could begin soon.
Immigrant communities are bracing for impact, with organizers canceling events like Chicago’s Mexican Independence Day festival out of fear of raids.
