Trey Songz is facing a multi-million-dollar judgment tied to a dramatic legal battle stemming from a battery case filed last year.
According to newly uncovered court documents, the R&B star has been ordered to pay over $11 million in damages to Tyrelle Dunn, a Maryland Capitol police officer. Dunn alleges that he sustained severe injuries after attempting to rescue his wife from Songz’s Las Vegas hotel room during an incident in November 2021.
The trouble reportedly unfolded while Trey Songz was celebrating his 37th birthday at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Dunn claims that his wife ended up in Songz’s suite and began screaming for help, saying she was being held against her will.
Dunn’s lawsuit details that when he intervened to assist his wife, he was allegedly attacked by Songz and his security team. The assault reportedly left Dunn with serious injuries, including fractured eye sockets and lasting scars, forcing him to miss work and endure significant pain.
While Songz was cleared of criminal charges in April 2022, Dunn pursued a civil lawsuit against the “Bottoms Up” artist. The court documents reveal that Songz failed to respond to the lawsuit, which resulted in a default judgment against him.
A Las Vegas judge has now ordered Songz to pay for Dunn’s medical expenses, pain and suffering, and punitive damages, totaling more than $11 million.
Despite the hefty ruling, Trey Songz has not yet commented publicly on the matter. His representatives have also remained silent, leaving fans and the media speculating about his next move.
This ruling marks another legal setback for the singer, who has faced a string of controversies in recent years. While Dunn is set to receive compensation, the case raises broader questions about accountability and celebrity behavior.
