Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio, born Charles Jones, was tragically shot and killed in Tampa early Sunday morning, confirmed by his attorney Lewis Fusco to News4JAX.
The rapper, who had just celebrated his 26th birthday on Friday, was staying at an Airbnb with friends when the incident occurred.
Fusco detailed that the Airbnb party had grown too large, prompting police to shut it down. In an Instagram story, Julio Foolio shared that authorities had forced them to leave the property.
Following the closure, the rapper moved to a Holiday Inn hotel. It was in the hotel’s parking lot that he was ambushed and fatally shot.
Tampa Police Public Information Officer Jonee’ Lewis stated in a press release that the victim is believed to be Charles Jones, pending positive identification from the Medical Examiner’s Office. The ambush also left three others injured, all of whom are in stable condition at a local hospital.
