A devastating plane crash in rural Illinois has claimed the lives of four individuals after a small aircraft collided with power lines and went down in a field on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred near Trilla, Illinois, located approximately 200 miles south of Chicago, according to Illinois State Police. Authorities confirmed that the single-engine Cessna 180 struck utility lines before crashing, scattering debris along County Line Road.
Officials from the Coles County Coroner’s Office reported that two men and two women were aboard the aircraft. Although their identities have not yet been disclosed, all four victims tragically lost their lives at the scene.
Both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are actively investigating the crash. An NTSB official is scheduled to arrive at the crash site Sunday to begin a thorough on-site examination.
The fatal incident has shocked the small community and raised urgent questions about the flight path and conditions that led to the deadly impact. Investigators will review flight data, maintenance records, and pilot history to determine the cause.
