A devastating accident unfolded at a Missouri in-home daycare after a 1-year-old boy became trapped on a small playground slide, authorities say.
The child reportedly slipped through a narrow opening on the plastic slide, which was orange and red and similar in design to a Little Tikes-style toy. The slide featured a small platform with side railings. During the incident, the boy’s head became lodged, blocking his airway and cutting off oxygen.
When deputies arrived, the daycare provider was already attempting life-saving measures. Officers immediately took over CPR, while fire and ambulance crews continued advanced medical treatment.
Despite their efforts, the child was later pronounced dead.
Officials say the investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine exactly how the tragedy occurred.
