Rachel Tussey, a 47-year-old influencer who shared her cosmetic surgery journey with followers on TikTok, has died after experiencing complications following a tummy tuck procedure.
According to her husband, Jeremy Tussey, the surgery initially appeared to go smoothly. He said the plastic surgeon briefly spoke with him afterward while leaving the facility and reassured him that the procedure had gone well.
However, the situation quickly took a troubling turn.
Jeremy said that after a nurse administered pain medication and checked on Rachel, he noticed something didn’t seem right.
“I’m just a construction worker, but I could tell something was wrong,” he recalled.
He said Rachel’s face began to lose color and she soon became unresponsive.
Medical staff immediately started CPR and contacted the plastic surgeon, who instructed them to call emergency services. Rachel was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital where she was placed on life support.
Doctors later informed Jeremy that Rachel had gone more than six minutes without oxygen, causing severe brain damage. She was ultimately declared brain dead.
The tragic case has sparked renewed conversations online about the risks associated with cosmetic surgery procedures, especially as more people share their experiences publicly on social media platforms like TikTok.
