According to the auction house Lyon and Turnbull, the world’s largest whiskey bottle, called “The Intrepid,” sold for $1.4 million. The Intrepid is 5 feet 11 inches, and in September of 2021, it was given the Guinness World Record.
The bottle contains 82.16 US gallons or 311 liters. You could compare that amount to 444 standard bottles.
The Intrepid has been matured in oak casks at Macallan’s Scotland distillery for 32 years. The Liquor is a 1989 Macallan single malt. The auction house says it is pale gold and has a sweet taste with notes of apple.
The Auction will support several charities. The project’s founder, Daniel Monk, was inspired by his father’s “passion for adventure exploration,” says the auction house.
