Hamadryas Amphinome, the red cracker blue butterfly, is a type of butterfly in the cracker butterfly family. These butterflies are native to regions of North and South America. Cracker butterflies get their names from the ability to make cracking noises with their wings. They say that these cracking noises can be heard by human ears from up to 30 metres away.
Red cracker blue butterflies are some of the most stunning butterflies. Since these butterflies camouflage very well with their surroundings, they are not poisonous and do not have any chemical defense, except for the starry night cracker.
Unlike most other butterflies, cracker butterflies don’t feed on nectar. Instead, they feed on rotting fruit, animal dung, and sap from leguminous trees.
