The NBA 2021-2022 season has arrived! What an exciting time! After the Milwaukee Bucks won the championship in July we all still didn’t know what to expect for the 2022 season. With the finals being played in July for the first time ever because of the COVID19 pandemic, and while the Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo was still celebrating, the details of the 2022 season were still in doubt. Thankfully this season is back to normal and we can all once again enjoy NBA basketball as we always have.
The Milwaukee Bucks should still be the favorites to win it all again and collect that second ring, but the Nets, Lakers, Warriors, Clippers, and Suns aren’t too far behind. It’s gonna also be interesting to see how the Clippers and Warriors will do without their superstars Kawhi Leonard and Klay Thompson. Also, the New Jersey Nets are without their star point guard Kyrie Irving. If they can all make it back fully healthy, it’s gonna be prime time viewing to see all these super teams play.
The Lakers made key trades in the off-season to get Russell Westbrook, Rajon Rondo, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwight Howard. But, with so many new egos, and people who want the ball, it might be hard to morph all these pieces into a championship team. The New Jersey Nets are a championship team if Kyrie Irving decides to get the covid vaccine and play. The Los Angeles Clippers are a championship team if they can get Kawhi Leonard back from injury.
The Golden State Warriors are a championship team if Klay Thompson gets back healthy after a terrible Achilles’ tendon tear. And the Phoenix Suns are contenders again but have the weakest roster of all these teams I’ve listed. The Bucks are the most complete team right now, so they should be the favorites. But the NBA can be a fickle beast, and who knows what all these fascinating storylines will bring.
