What a stunning butterfly! Looks like an Angel spreading love and joy throughout nature. The Mountain Blue Emperor Butterfly, known as Papilio Ulysses, is a beautiful blue and black butterfly located in Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. The Mountain Blue Emperor butterfly’s wingspan is about 14cm (5.5 in). The upper side of the wings are an iridescent electric blue, while the underside is a more subdued black and brown.
When flying around, Mountain Blue Emperor butterflies can be seen hundreds of metres away. The males are strongly attracted to blue-colored objects. This is because they think that the blue object is a female Mountain Blue Emperor butterfly.
Mountain Blue Emperor butterflies feed on the blossoms of the pink-flowered doughwood tree.
