The Meadow Brown butterfly (Maniola Jurtina) is common throughout Britain and Ireland. These beautiful butterflies are the most abundant butterfly species in many habitats.
You may even see hundreds of them flying together at once. While most other butterflies are inactive during dull weather, the adult Meadow Brown butterfly is active.
The Meadow Brown butterfly’s habitat is grasslands, heathland, coastal dunes, undercliffs, hay meadows, roadside verges, hedgerows, waste ground, gardens, parks, and cemeteries.
