The Gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park is on fire, causing residents to flee. The wildfire is near Estes Park, Colorado, where people usually get together for ski season.
Early Tuesday morning 11/16/2021, the Kruger Rock Fire ignited on the southeast fringes of Estes Park in an area known as Hermit Park. A Dire warning was sent to all residents by the Larimer County emergency management service telling everyone to “evacuate due to immediate and imminent danger. Evacuate the area immediately and as quickly as possible. Do not delay leaving to gather belongings or make efforts to protect your home or business.”
The company also asked for areas further south and east along Highway 36, which connects Estes Park with Boulder to evacuate. The company said that “Structures are threatened, but no reports of damage at this time.”
