The Gatekeeper butterfly (Pyronia Tithonus) is a member of the subfamily Satyrinae in the family Nymphalidae. They are commonly found in Britain and Ireland. The Gatekeeper butterfly is orange with two large spots on its wings and a brown pattern on the edge of its wings.
These beautiful butterflies prefer the habitat of meadow margins and hedges. Adult Gatekeeper butterflies feed primarily on bramble, carline thistle, devil’s-bit scabious, fleabane, hemp agrimony, wild privet, water mint, and red clover.
