Welcome to the “Real Run College Basketball Summer League,” a groundbreaking platform designed to showcase the skills of college basketball players, as reported by TMZ.
Scheduled to kick off on June 17 and run until August 13, this league will bring together both men’s and women’s basketball teams. Beyond its focus on basketball prowess, this initiative aims to bridge the gap between sports and music culture, exemplified by the participation of influential rappers like Game, Dom Kennedy, and G PERICO, who will manage the teams.
Jayceon Terrell Taylor, famously known as The Game, hails from Compton, California. He attended Compton High School and later pursued basketball at Antelope Valley College, Harbor Community College, and Cerritos College. His deep-rooted experience in the sport dates back to his college days.
Meanwhile, Dom Kennedy, born Dominic Ross Hunn, has been immersed in basketball since an early age, dedicating himself to the sport from the tender age of five until his sixteenth birthday.
Former NBA player Pooh Jeter, who collaborates with Real Run founder Deanthony Langston, expressed his optimism about this venture’s potential to positively transform countless lives. Jeter believes that this league could revolutionize the game and create incredible opportunities for the community.
The league has already attracted the attention of college basketball stars like Boogie Ellis and JuJu Watkins, serving as an inspiration for other musicians to join this remarkable cause.
“I would love for Diddy and Snoop or anyone from L.A. to participate, and let’s create something extraordinary for our community,” expressed Jeter.
Notably, the players participating in this league will also gain access to a comprehensive nine-week virtual learning program. This program aims to expand their knowledge across diverse domains such as mental health, finance, media, fashion, music, real estate, marketing, and more.
This initiative represents a holistic approach to the athletes’ development, nurturing their growth both on and off the court. The Real Run College Basketball Summer League transcends the boundaries of a traditional sports league.
It stands as a beacon of hope for the community, underscoring the transformative power of collaboration and the unbreakable bond between sports and music culture.
The Game and Dom Kennedy, fueled by their basketball backgrounds and love for their city, are not merely establishing a league; they are igniting a movement.
