The Blue Moon butterfly (Hypolimnas bolina), also known as the Great Eggfly or Common Eggfly, is found in Madagascar, Asia, and Australia. The Blue moon butterfly is a common butterfly across most tropical and sub-tropical areas. They love wet and dry woodland, rainforest, and shrubland.
These butterflies are territorial, and the males can be seen chasing the female during spring and summer, their mating season. They get their name from the bright blue patches on their wings, which look like full blue moons.
