Texas authorities have formally charged a man in the tragic killing of a 63-year-old woman whose body was discovered along a San Antonio trail in 2024.
Officials say Samuel Charon is responsible for the sexual assault and murder of Stacey Dramiga.
Charon was taken into custody last fall on unrelated charges. Investigators later entered his DNA into the national CODIS database following a criminal mischief booking in April 2025.
The profile matched evidence from the trail scene, giving detectives the break they needed.
On January 6, a Bexar County grand jury returned an indictment charging Charon with capital murder and tampering with evidence. Court records show he is currently awaiting a psychological evaluation scheduled for January 30.
The case highlights how forensic technology continues to solve violent crimes months… even years after they occur, bringing long-awaited answers to victims’ families and the community.
