Tesla has paused its Full Self-Driving (FSD) trial in China, awaiting regulatory approval. The free trial, initially set for March 17 to April 16, was temporarily suspended, sparking complaints from users.
Tesla reassured customers on Weibo, stating, “All parties are advancing the process, and we’ll push it to you as soon as it’s ready.”
Unlike in the U.S., Tesla faces challenges in China due to strict data laws preventing the company from using local driving data to train its AI. Additionally, new regulations require approval for autonomous driving software updates.
To navigate these hurdles, Tesla is partnering with Baidu to refine its FSD system. While the rollout is delayed, Tesla remains committed to launching FSD in China this year.
