An 18-year-old Arizona teen is in custody after police say he killed his neighbor, concealed the body, and quietly took over the victim’s home for nearly two weeks.
Authorities in Phoenix report that 57-year-old David Jimenez was fatally shot in late December. Investigators believe Xavion Johnson attempted to burglarize Jimenez’s home and shot him three times during the encounter.
After the killing, police say Johnson wrapped the victim’s body in blankets and left it in the backyard. He then allegedly moved into the home, using Jimenez’s car and credit cards while having packages delivered to the address as if nothing had happened.
The case unraveled when Johnson’s own mother contacted police to request a welfare check on Jimenez. When officers arrived and surrounded the home, Johnson reportedly barricaded himself inside before eventually surrendering without further incident.
Johnson now faces multiple serious charges as investigators continue piecing together the chilling timeline of events.
