At the Mississippi Valley Fair on August 1, T-Pain paused his performance to address the audience after multiple items were thrown on stage, according to AllHipHop. The frustration led the Florida-born artist to speak candidly to the crowd for nearly three minutes, expressing his disappointment.
“As someone turning 40 this year, I don’t have to stand here while people keep disrespecting me,” T-Pain declared. “I don’t want to sound harsh, but you wouldn’t stay here and keep getting disrespected because it’s just weird.”
An audience member captured a video of the moment where T-Pain attempted to brush off the disrespect but eventually reached his limit. “I’m trying my best to ignore it, to let it go. But after a while, it gets to you.”
“I want to keep having fun because I vibe with most of you. It’s just a few out there causing trouble. We’re all here to have fun,” he said. As the crowd began chanting his name, T-Pain took a brief dance break mid-rant.
“I’m not saying I want to leave, I’m not mad. But there’s only so much I can take… I’m not a clown here to get pies thrown at me,” he continued.
“I appreciate everyone coming out; I really don’t want to leave halfway through. But I can’t stay up here getting disrespected. Do you want me to keep going?”
The crowd’s positive response and chanting seemed to bolster his resolve, highlighting T-Pain’s genuine connection with his fans despite the actions of a few.
