T.I. and Tiny are celebrating a major legal win after a jury awarded the couple a staggering $71 million in a lawsuit against toy giant MGA Entertainment. The case revolved around MGA’s “L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. dolls,” which the jury found infringed on the intellectual property rights of the couple’s girl group, OMG Girlz.
According to Rolling Stone, the jury sided with T.I. and Tiny, determining that MGA had violated the trade dress and misappropriated the name, image, and likeness of the all-female group formed by the couple in 2009.
The lawsuit pointed out seven dolls that bore striking similarities to members of the OMG Girlz, including Tiny’s daughter, Zonnique Pullins, specifically replicating their looks from key public appearances.
The trial, which lasted several weeks, concluded Monday in a federal court in Santa Ana, California. Following the decision, Tiny took to Instagram Live to celebrate, expressing her excitement and pride in the win.
She emphasized that the battle, which began in 2020, was not just for their family but also “for the city” and “for the culture.”
The jury’s decision awarded T.I. and Tiny $17.9 million in compensatory damages and an additional $53.6 million in punitive damages. With this victory, the power couple is set to enjoy a significant financial windfall if the verdict holds.
