ESPN just made a major shake-up to its NBA coverage… and Stephen A. Smith is no longer part of the “NBA Countdown” lineup.
The network revealed its revamped on-air crew this week, and Smith’s name was noticeably absent. The updated team features host Malika Andrews, joined by senior ESPN reporter Brian Windhorst, 2023 NBA Championship coach Michael Malone, and former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins. NBA insider Shams Charania will also continue making regular on-air contributions throughout the season.
According to ESPN, the refreshed group will handle pregame and halftime coverage for select NBA on ESPN broadcasts during the year.
Smith hasn’t appeared on “NBA Countdown” at all this preseason or regular season… making this move one of ESPN’s biggest lineup surprises so far.
