Unionized Starbucks workers launched a nationwide strike Thursday in a coordinated “Red Cup Rebellion,” timed to disrupt the company’s massive Red Cup Day giveaway.
Starbucks Workers United… representing 9,500 baristas at 550 stores… says they’re demanding fair pay, better staffing, and a first labor contract.
More than 65 stores in 40+ cities walked out, with no set end date. “No contract, no coffee” is the union’s message as they warn of escalating action.
Starbucks says the impact is minimal, claiming less than 1% of its 17,000 U.S. stores are affected.
