So, the NFL 2021 season is officially 3 weeks old, and it’s been very exciting. Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes have lived up to expectations, just like we thought they would. Matthew Stafford is playing much better than everyone thought.
But the biggest excitement and greatest storyline this year is the play of the rookie quarterbacks. Mac Jones, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Trevor Lawrence, and Trey Lance make a stellar rookie QB class; all have starting roles for their respective teams except Trey Lance.
I’m writing this article to show why Mac Jones is the MVP of the rookie QBs. He plays for the New England Patriots and is the only rookie quarterback that has started all 3 games and won a game. Trevor Lawrence, who plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars, has started 4 games now and hasn’t won.
Zach Wilson, who plays for the New York Jets, has started the first 3 games but hasn’t won yet. Justin Fields, who plays for the Chicago Bears, has started one game but lost. Trey Lance, who plays for the San Francisco 49ers, has only played one snap of one game.
The finals stats that make Mac Jones the MVP of rookie QBs is the combination of his passing yards, touchdown passes, and interceptions. He has 737 passing yards, 2 TDs, and 3 interceptions. Trevor Lawrence has 873 passing yards, 5 TDs, and 7 interceptions in 4 games.
Zach Wilson has 628 passing yards, 2 TDs, and 7 interceptions. Justin Fields has 138 yards passing, 0 TDs, and 1 interception. Trey Lance has 5 passing yards, 1 TD, and 0 interceptions. So the stats don’t lie. It’s irrefutable that Mac Jones is the best rookie QB so far.
