Some snakes pretend to be other snakes to keep predators from harming them. Like this Eastern Hognose snake, who decided to turn Cobra on a wildlife expert.
As you can see from the video, the snake looks pretty believable to a non-expert. Their bite does include venom but rarely causes any serious symptoms in humans.
When they get threatened, the neck is flattened and the head is raised off the ground, like a Cobra.
They also hiss and will strike, but they do not attempt to bite. They will often roll onto its back and play dead, going so far as to emit a foul musk from its cloaca and let its tongue hang out of its mouth.
Now, I’m sure for us non-snake experts, we’d run like crazy as soon as we saw this snake. What would you do? Let us know in the comments.
