Shilo Sanders, son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, has been fined $4,669 and released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after being ejected for throwing a punch during a preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.
The 25-year-old defensive back, signed as an undrafted free agent earlier this year, was praised for his aggressiveness on special teams but quickly lost his roster spot. Head coach Todd Bowles called the decision to throw a punch “inexcusable.”
Shilo, whose brother Shedeur Sanders is a rookie quarterback with the Cleveland Browns, says he remains hopeful for another shot in the NFL. In a video posted online, he added he may also pursue opportunities in music or modeling if football doesn’t work out.
The Buccaneers open the season September 7 against the Atlanta Falcons without him.
