In a surprising turn of events, hip-hop sensation Sexyy Red has accused leading concert promoters of attempting to sabotage her highly anticipated tour. The “Pound Town” rapper took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday, July 8, to address rumors surrounding the potential cancellation of her Sexyy Red tour.
Responding to claims that her tour was on the brink of being canceled due to low ticket sales, Sexyy Red firmly denied the allegations. “My fans are buying tickets, we’re doing just fine. We’re not canceling any tour. This cancellation talk is all cap,” she tweeted.
The St. Louis native further explained that her choice to partner with an independent, Black-owned tour company had ruffled feathers among the larger, more established promoters. She believes this decision has led to underhanded tactics aimed at undermining her tour’s success.
“Dis how they try to do you when you go with an independent promoter,” she shared. “The bigger companies try to sabotage you. We’re not canceling anything.”
Sexyy Red revealed that her touring deal was struck with AG Entertainment, a Black-owned company. She accused major promoters of playing dirty by paying pages to spread false information to discourage her fans from purchasing tickets.
I did my touring deal with a black promoter black owned company AG Entertainment and now Dey playin dirty paying pages spreading fake news to discourage my fans from buying tickets,” she added.
While Sexyy Red did not provide concrete evidence to support her claims, her statements have sparked a conversation about the challenges independent artists face when competing against larger entities in the music industry.
Despite the allegations and the challenges, Sexyy Red remains determined to bring her tour to her fans. Keep an eye out for her tour dates and show your support for independent artists making waves in the industry.
