Rapper Sean Kingston will serve three and a half years in federal prison after being convicted in a $1 million fraud operation he carried out alongside his mother. His sentence also includes three years of supervised release once he’s out.
Federal prosecutors revealed that Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, and his mother, Janice Turner, ran a scheme to acquire high-end goods without paying a dime. The items included a luxury SUV, jewelry, designer watches, and even a wall-sized TV.
In March 2025, a federal jury found both guilty of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and multiple counts of wire fraud. Turner, sentenced in July to five years, was arrested in May 2024 when a SWAT team stormed Kingston’s rented mansion in Southwest Ranches, Florida. Kingston himself was taken into custody later at Fort Irwin, a U.S. Army base in California, where he had been performing.
Prosecutors say the pair used fake wire transfer receipts to make it look like payments were on the way… but no money ever arrived. Investigators pointed to a text Kingston sent his mother as key evidence. “I told you to make a fake receipt… so it looks like the transfer will be there in a couple of days.”
According to court documents, the mother-son duo walked away with over $1 million in luxury goods through their elaborate deception.
