Music icon Sean “Diddy” Combs is requesting release on a $50 million bond as he awaits sentencing in October, following a jury verdict that cleared him of the most serious federal charges earlier this month.
In a court filing on Tuesday, Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, argued that conditions at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center are hazardous and emphasized that individuals convicted of similar prostitution-related charges are typically granted pre-sentencing release.
“Sean Combs should not be incarcerated for this conduct,” Agnifilo stated. “He may be the only person in a U.S. jail for hiring adult male escorts… and certainly the only one behind bars for doing so with his girlfriend.”
While the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan has not responded publicly, prosecutors have previously labeled Combs a flight risk, pushing back on bond release.
The 55-year-old mogul still faces up to 10 years in prison for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution… stemming from flying individuals, including girlfriends and male sex workers, across the country for sexual purposes.
