Before his rise to fame, ScHoolboy Q once contemplated a bold and dangerous heist on Ben Baller’s well-known jewelry store in Los Angeles. The TDE rapper, who has a past as a gang member, shared this revelation during an appearance on the Par 3 golf podcast, hosted by J.R. Smith and Stephen Malbon, with none other than the celebrity jeweler himself in attendance.
Q reminisced about the daring plan he and his crew had devised long before his music career took off. “It’s wild to think about now,” he admitted. “Me and my homies—Lil One Punch and T-Rell—we were seriously plotting to rob your store.”
The rapper expressed relief that they never followed through, acknowledging the reality of the situation. “I’m so glad we didn’t go through with it. We would’ve been done for. The place was crawling with security,” he said, laughing at the audacity of their scheme.
Q went on to detail how the plan was meticulously mapped out. “We really thought we had it all figured out. One of the homies would cause a distraction, we’d pull security away, and then make our move.”
However, as the day of the planned robbery approached, a sudden realization hit the crew. “We had it all laid out, who was gonna do what. Then, just a week before, it hit us—’Bro, we’re gonna die.’ And that was that.”
This candid moment offers a glimpse into the rapper’s past, highlighting how close he came to making a life-altering mistake, one that could have ended his career before it even began.
