A Florida jury has convicted Ryan Routh of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump.
Routh, who acted as his own lawyer, was found guilty on all charges, including attempted assassination and assaulting a federal officer. Prosecutors said he aimed a rifle at a Secret Service agent at Trump’s golf course before being forced to drop the weapon.
Chaos erupted in court after the verdict when Routh tried to stab himself with a pen before U.S. Marshals stopped him.
Routh now faces life in prison. The case marked the second assassination attempt on Trump, following a shooting at a Pennsylvania rally that left him with a grazed ear.
