Authorities have taken Nick Reiner, the adult son of legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, into custody as the investigation into the couple’s shocking deaths continues.
According to public jail records, the 32-year-old is currently being held by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as of Monday morning. Law enforcement has not yet announced formal charges or released details regarding the circumstances surrounding his detention.
Rob and Michele Reiner were discovered deceased inside their Los Angeles residence on Sunday, after one of their daughters went to check on them. Investigators confirmed the couple suffered fatal neck injuries, prompting an immediate homicide investigation.
While officials have not publicly identified a suspect or motive, sources familiar with the case say detectives are examining whether the violence followed a dispute involving a family member. Authorities stress the investigation remains active and ongoing.
The devastating loss has sent shockwaves through Hollywood. Longtime friends and collaborators Billy Crystal and Larry David were seen arriving at… and later leaving… the Reiner home Sunday evening. Both appeared visibly shaken as police maintained a perimeter around the crime scene.
Video footage shows Crystal departing with his wife, Janice Crystal, who appeared emotional and wiped away tears as they left the area.
