In a devastating turn of events, a rising L.A. rapper, known by his real name Javonnta Murphy but professionally as Sirtanky, has been found dead under suspicious circumstances. Authorities are launching a comprehensive investigation into the incident to uncover the truth behind the tragedy.
The lifeless body of Sirtanky was discovered on Monday (July 31) inside a metal barrel that washed up on the shore of Malibu Lagoon State Beach, California, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Lt. Hugo Reynaga of the sheriff’s homicide bureau confirmed that the barrel first appeared on Malibu’s shores on Sunday (July 30). Although a maintenance worker discovered it, they didn’t open it at the time and didn’t find anything unusual about it.
On Monday (July 31), a lifeguard in Malibu lagoon stumbled upon the 55-gallon container. Due to its peculiar weight, the lifeguard decided to open it, only to make the tragic discovery of the L.A. rapper’s body. Notably, Sirtanky’s body did not appear to be significantly decomposed, indicating a relatively recent demise, but this detail is yet to be confirmed by the coroner’s office.
Authorities are investigating various possibilities, including the chance that the container might have drifted in from the ocean during high tide at approximately 8 p.m., getting stuck in the lagoon.
The L.A. rapper’s identity was officially confirmed by the coroner on Thursday (August 3). Police have asserted that the case is being treated as an open homicide investigation due to the distressing circumstance of Sirtanky’s naked body being found inside the sealed barrel, indicating foul play.
Detectives are looking into the origin of the barrel, which they suspect might be connected to a printing company. The investigation aims to establish any potential link between the printing company and the manner of Sirtanky’s untimely death.
Sirtanky, a native of South Central Los Angeles, leaves behind his mother and four brothers. His final project, The Chronicles of a Capricorn, was released in January. This tragic incident has left fans and loved ones in shock, and the investigation seeks to bring closure and justice to the grieving community.
