Rapper Juvenile has recently expressed his frustration with Essence Festival for not including him in their highly anticipated star-studded lineup, which aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop in his hometown of New Orleans.
The situation unfolded when Essence Fest shared a series of flyers on their social media platforms, representing the talented artists who will be performing on each day of the event. The second flyer specifically highlighted performers based on their respective regions within the United States.
In the flyer named “The South Got Something To Say,” curated by Jermaine Dupri, notable artists such as Big Boi, Gucci Mane, Lil Jon, Ludacris, and T.I. were listed. However, it was evident that Juvenile’s name was missing from the lineup, prompting him to express his disappointment on Twitter.
On Thursday (June 1), the former Cash Money hitmaker took to Twitter and posted, “How is Essence doing 50 years of hip hop in New Orleans without me???” His tweet reflected his genuine surprise and disappointment at being excluded from such a significant event.
In response to being overlooked by Essence Fest, Juvenile decided to promote an alternative festival in which he and Mannie Fresh, his long-time collaborator, will be participating. The festival is called “Donna Fest,” and Juvenile eagerly shared the details with his followers.
“F that Donna Fest July 2nd me w my live band +Mannie Fresh +Rebirth & more [gold star emojis] & the best food venders new orleans has to offer i should know im from here! Our [ticket emoji] are just $25!” Juvenile enthusiastically wrote.
